Falcons Expected To Let RB Tevin Coleman Walk In Free Agency

According to Vaughn McClure, word around the Combine is that RB Tevin Coleman will not be returning to the Falcons.

Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff indicated that Coleman could be playing elsewhere in 2019 during his press conference on Wednesday.

“Tevin’s going to do well, wherever he is,” Dimitroff said. “…Whether he is with us or whether he goes somewhere else.

This probably isn’t a big surprise, considering that Atlanta signed Devonta Freeman to a five-year, $41.25 million extension and drafted Ito Smith last year.

Coleman, 25, is a former third-round pick of the Falcons back in 2015. He played out the final year of his four-year, $3.219 million contract and is now in line to test the free agent market for the first time in his NFL career.

In 2018, Coleman appeared in all 16 games for the Falcons and rushed for 800 yards on 167 carries (4.8 YPC) to go along with 32 receptions for 276 yards receiving and nine total touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 47 running back out of 62qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 100 – 2019 NFL Free Agents list.
