Falcons Restructure DE Brooks Reed’s Contract

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Falcons and DE Brooks Reed have agreed to a restructured contract to keep him in Atlanta for the 2018 season.

Like G Andy Levitre, it’s very likely that Reed agreed to a pay cut as part of this restructure, seeing as he had come up as a potential cap casualty for the Falcons this offseason.

Reed, 31, is a former second-round pick of the Texans back in 2011. He played out his rookie contract with Houston before agreeing to a five-year, $22.5 million contract that included $9 million guaranteed back in 2015.

Reed was set to make base salaries of $4.5 million over the next two years.

In 2017, Reed appeared in all 16 games for the Falcons and recorded 41 tackles and four sacks. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 31 edge defender out of 106 qualifying players.
