Falcons S J.J. Wilcox Out For Season With Torn ACL

Ian Rapoport reports that Falcons S J.J. Wilcox suffered a torn ACL during Monday’s training camp practice and is out for the season.

Wilcox had to be helped off the field after a  right knee injury and couldn’t put any pressure on the leg before receiving immediate attention from the training staff.

You can expect the Falcons to place him on injured reserve in the coming days and add someone to their roster.

Wilcox, 28, is a former third-round pick of the Cowboys back in 2013. He has played out his four-year, $2,811,068 contract with the Cowboys before signing a two-contract with the Buccaneers worth up to $8.5 million.

The Buccaneers traded him to the Steelers at the start of the 2017 season for a 2018 sixth-round pick. Wilcox was set to make a base salary of $3.125 million for the 2018 season when the Steelers released him during the offseason.

Wilcox had brief stints with the Colts and Jets before signing on with the Falcons this past April.

In 2018, Wilcox appeared in five games for the Jets and two games for the Colts. He recorded six tackles and no interceptions.
