Falcons TE Austin Hooper Out For A Month With MCL Sprain

According to Ian Rapoport, Falcons TE Austin Hooper is expected to miss a month following an MCL sprain suffered during Sunday’s win against New Orleans.

Hooper currently leads all tight ends with 56 catches. He’s set to be a free agent following the season but Atlanta is expected to try and re-sign him.

Hooper, 25, was drafted in the third round by the Falcons out of Stanford in 2016. He’s entering the final year of a four-year, $3.165 million rookie contract and is set to make a base salary of $720,000 for the 2019 season.

In 2019, Hooper has appeared in nine games for the Falcons and caught 56 passes for 608 yards (10.9 YPC) and six touchdowns. He’s rated by the Pro Football Focus as the No. 6 tight end out of 67 qualifying players.
