Patriots Officially Sign TE Scott Chandler

Update:

The Patriots announced the signing of TE Scott Chandler on Monday.

———-

ESPN’s Adam Schefter confirms that TE Scott Chandler has reached an agreement with the Patriots.

  • Aaron Wilson first reported Chandler won’t be signing with the Ravens, and was instead expected to reach an agreement with the Patriots.
  • According to Wilson, the Ravens were interested, but he had “intense” interest from the Patriots.

———-

Dianna Marie Russini reports that former Bills TE Scott Chandler is deciding between signing with either the Patriots or the Ravens.

  • Russini adds that a decision expected at some point in the near future.

Baltimore could really use another tight end after they lost veteran TE Owen Daniels to the Broncos earlier in the week. However, the lure of joining the Patriots could be a big selling point for Chandler as well.

Chandler, 29, was released in a move that freed up $2.25 million in available cap space for the Bills.

In 2014, Chandler appeared in all 16 games last year and caught 47 passes for 497 yards receiving and three touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 47 tight end out of 67  qualifying players.
