Former Falcons OT Sam Baker’s Career “Probably” Over Due To Injuries

David Baker, the father of former Falcons OT Sam Baker, tells Alex Marvez and Gil Brandt of SiriusXM NFL Radio that his son “probably just concluded his career” because of injuries he’s dealt with over the past seven seasons.

The Falcons elected to part ways with Baker a few months ago in a move that cleared $4.5 million in available cap space. There hasn’t been any reported interest in Baker since he became available.

Baker, 30, is a former first round pick of the Falcons back in 2008. He played out his rookie contract before signing a six-year, $41.1 million contract with Atlanta back in March of 2013.

Last year, Baker wound up missing the entire 2014 season after he sustained a torn patellar tendon and was subsequently placed on season-ending injured reserve.

In 2013, Baker was limited to playing in just four games, so there are some obvious concerns regarding his durability moving forward.
