According to Art Stapleton, the Giants are placing third-round FS Darian Thompson on injured reserve due to a foot injury.
- Stapleton mentions that Thompson is expected to undergo season-ending surgery.
It was reported earlier this week that Thompson experienced a setback with his Lisfranc injury during practice.
Thompson, 22, was taken with the No. 71 overall pick by the Giants and was signed to a four-year, $3.45 million rookie contract that included a $837,136 signing bonus. He carries a base salary of $450,000 this season to go along with another $585,000 in 2017.
In 2016, he has appeared in two games for the Giants and recorded seven total tackles.
