Giants Release Veteran G John Jerry

Adam Schefter reports that the Giants are releasing veteran G John Jerry on Sunday after they made several waiver claims.

Jerry, 32, is a former third-round pick of the Dolphins back in 2010. He played out his rookie contract with the Dolphins before signing a one-year agreement with the Giants in March of 2015.

Jerry returned to the Giants again in 2016 on another one-year contract, and then re-signed to a three-year, $10 million deal.

He was entering the second year of his contract and was set to earn a base salary of $1,075,000. According to OverTheCap.com, New York freed up $1,075,000 in cap space while creating $2,525,000 in dead money.

In 2017, Jerry appeared in all 16 games for the Giants and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 36 guard out of 78 qualifying players.
