Giants Signing FB Elijhaa Penny Off Cardinals’ Practice Squad

According to Jordan Raanan, the Giants are signing FB Elijhaa Penny off of the Cardinals’ practice squad on Tuesday.

Raanan mentions that this move comes after Shane Smith struggled badly during Week 2’s game against the Cowboys.

Penny, 25, wound up signing on with the Cardinals as an undrafted free agent out of Idaho back in 2016. He spent his rookie year on Arizona’s practice squad before returning to the team on a futures contract.

The Cardinals signed Penny to a one-year, exclusive rights contract this past April, but he was once again waived coming out of the preseason and later signed to their practice squad.

In 2017, Penny appeared in all 16 games for the Cardinals and rushed for 124 yards on 31 carries (4 YPC) to go along with four receptions for 38 yards receiving and two total touchdowns.
