Jaguars Claim LB Austin Calitro Off Waivers, Waive LB Joe Giles-Harris

According to Tom Pelissero, the Jaguars have claimed former Seahawks LB Austin Calitro off waivers.

In a corresponding move, Jacksonville waived rookie LB Joe Giles-Harris, per Pelissero.

Calitro was a surprise cut by Seattle and could end up being a contributor for the Jaguars, who are seeking depth at linebacker.

Calitro, 25, wound up signing on with the Jets as an undrafted free agent out of Villanova in 2017. Unfortunately, he lasted just a few weeks in New York before he was placed on waivers.

Calitro later signed on with the 49ers but wound up being among their final roster cuts coming out of the preseason. After a brief stint with the Seahawks, Calitro joined the Browns’ practice squad and returned to Cleveland on a futures deal in 2018.

After the Browns elected to waive him in May, Calitro returned to the Seahawks for the 2018 season. He re-signed in Seattle this offseason as an exclusive rights free agent.

In 2018, Calitro appeared in all 16 games for the Seahawks, recording 45 total tackles, half a sack and one pass defense.
