Jaguars Sign Sixth Round Pick OL Luke Bowanko

The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed the first player of their 2014 NFL Draft class on Monday as they announced an agreement with sixth-round pick OL Luke Bowanko.

  • Bowanko receives a four-year contract from Jacksonville.

As a three-year starter with the Cavaliers, Bowanko saw playing time at each position along the interior offensive line. Bowanko has never missed a game due to injury in his three years as a starter.

It is worth noting that Jacksonville also selected Miami OG Brandon Linder in the third round, spent a decent amount of money on OG Zane Beadles in free agency, and actually signed restricted free agent C Alex Mack to an offer sheet, so they are clearly focused on revamping their interior offensive line.

Bowanko could see time as a swing reserve at some point, but he’ll have to perform well during training camp and offseason activities to ensure a roster spot.
