Jets Officially Hire Kevin Greene As OLBs Coach

Update:

The Jets announced that they have officially hired Kevin Greene as their new outside linebackers coach.

Alex Marvez of the Sporting News is reporting that the Jets are hiring Kevin Greene as their new outside linebackers coach.

There was some talk that the Jets were going to hire Clint Hurtt to coach outside linebackers, but he later joined the Seahawks’ coaching staff.

Greene will replace Mark Collins on the Jets’ defensive coaching staff.

Greene, 54, former fifth-round pick of the Rams back in 1985. He played 15 years in the NFL for the Rams, Steelers, Panthers and 49ers before he was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame last year.

The Packers hired him as their OLBs coach back in 2009 and he helped them win a Super Bowl title during the 2010 season. Greene later stepped away from coaching to spend more time with his family, but he’s been seen visiting with a few teams in recent years, so the possibility was always there that he could return to coaching in the NFL at some point.
