Jets Signing NT Steve McLendon To A Three-Year Deal Worth Up To $12M

Kimberly A. Martin reports that the Jets are expected to sign NT Steve McLendon to a contract.

  • Dom Cosentino reports that McLendon will receive a three-year deal worth a maximum value of $12 million from the Jets.

The Jets unfortunately lost DT Damon Harrison to the Giants last week, so they could some some depth at the position.

New York brought McLendon in for a visit recently and reports said that he was looking to secure an opportunity that would give him more playing time next year.

McLendon, 30, wound up signing on with the Steelers as an undrafted free agent out of Troy back in 2010. He signed a three-year contract extension with the team during the 2013 offseason and was testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent for the first time.

In 2015, McLendon appeared in all 16 games for the Steelers and recorded 14 tackles, a sack and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 91 interior defensive lineman out of 123 qualifying players.

We had him featured in our Best Available Free Agents list.
