Jets ILB Avery Williamson Out For Season With Torn ACL

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Jets starting ILB Avery Williamson suffered a torn ACL during Thursday’s preseason game.

According to Rapoport, Williamson underwent an MRI on Friday and it was determined that he’ll miss the 2019 season.

You can expect the Jets to place Williamson on injured reserve in the coming days and add someone to their roster.

Williamson, 27, is a former fifth-round pick of the Titans back in 2014. He played out his rookie contract with Tennessee before agreeing to a three-year, $22.5 million contract that includes $16 million guaranteed.

In 2018, Williamson appeared in all 16 games for the Jets and recorded 120 tackles, three sacks, an interception, two forced fumbles and six pass defenses.
