Jets Sign Second-Round QB Christian Hackenberg To A Four-Year Deal

The New York Jets announce that they’ve signed second-round QB Christian Hackenberg and seventh-round WR Charone Peake to four-year deals on Thursday.

Hackenberg, 21, was taken with the No. 51 overall pick by the Jets a few weeks ago and was the fourth quarterback to come off the board.

As of now, it would appear as though Hackenberg would compete for the starting job with Geno Smith and Bryce Petty. However, this would change if/when the Jets are able to re-sign veteran QB Ryan Fitzpatrick.

According to OverTheCap.com, Hackenberg receives a four-year contract worth $4,660,304 to go along with a signing bonus of $1,589,3122.

During his three-year college career at Penn State, Hackenberg threw for 8,457 yards while completing 56.1 percent of his passes to go along with 48 touchdowns and 31 interceptions.
