Jets WR Lucky Whitehead Reverts To IR After Clearing Waivers

The New York Jets officially placed WR Lucky Whitehead on injured reserve after clearing waivers on Monday.

Whitehead, 26, signed on with the Cowboys as an undrafted free agent out of Florida Atlantic back in 2015. He was in the final year of his three-year, $1.585 million contract and set to make a base salary of $615,000 for the 2017 season when the Cowboys elected to move on from him last year.

The Jets later claimed him off of waivers and he was on and off of their injured reserve list last year. Unfortunately, he was waived with an injury designation and later reverted to injured reserve before being waived with an injury settlement a few weeks later.

Whitehead was waived with an injury designation on Sunday.

In 2016, Whitehead appeared in 15 games and caught three passes for 48 yards receiving and no touchdowns. He also rushed for 82 yards on 10 carries to go along with 394 kick return yards.
