Latest On Tom Brady’s Future

Tom Brady‘s future has become an increasingly popular topic the past few weeks and while people in and around the Patriots organization still cannot predict what he’ll do, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that all options are on the table.

This includes returning to New England, moving on to another organization or retiring.

One source tells Schefter that New England offers two advantages to Brady that no other situation can: Robert Kraft and Bill Belichick.

“Never underestimate Robert Kraft,” said Schefter’s source.

“I can tell you this: The working relationship with Tom and Bill (Belichick) right now is terrific,” a separate source mentioned.

However, Schefter says other sources familiar with the situation have insisted Brady’s decision still can go any which way, and nobody can predict what will unfold after the season.

According to Jason La Canfora, sources close to Brady have identified the Chargers as a team to potentially watch if Brady decides to leave New England this offseason.

La Canfora adds that for now Brady’s focus is just on winning the Super Bowl this season and he wouldn’t even discuss a move with his family until well after the season is over.

While Brady’s contract is structured to void in March, that was done to provide flexibility to both the Patriots and Brady given the fluid status of CBA negotiations. However, it does provide an opportunity for Brady to hit free agency for the first time ever in his career.

La Canfora writes the Chargers would appeal to Brady on a number of levels. He trains in Southern California and has family in the state. His trainer, Alex Guerrero, lives in Los Angeles along with his throwing specialist Tom House. Brady also has been mulling a second career in Hollywood once he’s done in the NFL.

La Canfora also mentions the league would welcome Brady’s presence to a Chargers team that has struggled to make its mark in the Los Angeles market since the move. Brady would also welcome playing in the new Inglewood facility that will open in 2020.

From the Chargers standpoint, QB Philip Rivers is set to be an unrestricted free agent following the season. La Canfora says some in the league believe Brady and Patriots OC Josh McDaniels, who’s expected to be another hot head coaching candidate, could leave for Los Angeles if the right dominoes fall.

Brady, 42, is a former sixth-round pick of the Patriots back in 2000. He was in the final year of his two-year, $41 million contract when he agreed to a two-year extension a few weeks ago.

Brady stands to make $23 million for the 2019 season.

In 2019, Brady has appeared in all seven games for the Patriots and completed 65.9 percent of his passes for 1,992 yards, 11 touchdowns and four interceptions.

  1. Robert Kraft needs to make Larry Fitzgerald an offer to better Larry’s chances of retiring with a CHAMPIONSHIP RING. With Bill Bidwell passing away and the Phoenix cardinals playing the same as always, This might be good timing of changing teams to be a Patriot. I did this season midway through from depression of being a Cardinals fan for 32 years of loyalty. I should have stayed with the Patriots way back when in the early to mid 80s when they were struggling like the Cardinals. Larry has at least a couple of years left in him and between him and Tom, they can lift each other up to make it the best 2 year’s in their career before retirement from the NFL. Larry needs to be reminded that the Cardinals is 1 of 2 of the team’s that started the NFL and has yet to win a super bowl. The team is cursed. zhnHr
