Lions Make Calvin Johnson The Highest Paid WR In NFL History

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Lions will pay Johnson a total of $132 million which includes $60 million guarantees which beats out Larry Fitzgeralds recond contract of $128 million for eight years and $50 million guaranteed.

Calvin Johnson is now the highest paid receiver in the NFL.

Tim Twentymen of DetroitLions.com reports that the Lions have signed Calvin Johnson to a seven-year extension that will keep him under contract through the 2019 season.

Anwar Richardson of MLive.com reports that the Detroit Lions are “close to announcing a seven-year extension” for WR Calvin Johnson.

Johnson currently has a 2012 cap number of over $21 million so reducing that amount to a more cap-friendly total in the first few years makes plenty of sense when you consider that they have a number of players to address during free agency like Stephen Tulloch and Jeff Backus.
