Lions Place OT Tony Hills On Retired List, Sign OT Nick Becton

The Detroit Lions announced Monday that they’ve placed OT Tony Hills on the reserve/retired list and signed OT Nick Becton to a contract.

  • Lions activated S Rolan Milligan from the PUP list.

Hills, 32, is a former fourth-round pick of the Steelers back in 2008. He spent two years in Pittsburgh before brief stops with several teams including the Broncos, Colts, Bills, Raiders, Dolphins, Cowboys, Panthers and Ravens before signing on with the Saints during the 2015 season.

The Lions added him to their roster back in June after Tylor Decker got hurt.

In 2016, Hills appeared in 11 games for the Saints.

Becton, 27, originally signed on with the Chargers as an undrafted free agent out of Virginia Tech back in 2013. He lasted over a year in San Diego before signing on to the Giants’ practice squad at the start of the 2014 season.

After a brief stint with the Saints, Becton signed on with the Bears and returned on a one-year contract back in March of last year but was waived with an injury designation during the preseason and spent the entire season on injured reserve.

In 2015, Becton appeared in five games for the Bears.
