Lions Worked Out TE Joe Kruger

Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post reports that the Lions brought in TE Joe Kruger for a workout on Thursday.

  • According to Wilson, the Lions also worked out TEĀ Darrion Hutcherson, but didn’t immediately sign either player.

This comes just a few days after the Lions placed TE Tim Wright on injured reserve with a torn ACL, so they could clearly use some help at tight end.

Kruger, 23, is a former seventh-round pick of the Eagles and known for being the younger brother of Browns OLB Paul Kruger. He lasted just over a year with the Eagles before he was waived and later claimed by the Chargers at the start of the 2014 season. Unfortunately, Kruger’s stay in San Diego was short lived, as he was waived four days later.

After a brief stint with the Packers, Kruger signed a future/reserve contract with the Steelers after the 2014 season. However, he was once again among their final roster cuts.

Kruger has yet to appear in an NFL game.
