Michael Turner A Potential Cap-Casualty?

There has already been so much made of Michael Turner‘s declining production, but with his salary is set to increase to $6.9 million for the 2013 season, there’s a good chance he could be on the chopping block in the coming weeks.

Turner, 30, made $5.5 million this season and finished the year with 803 rushing yards to go along with a very respectable 10 touchdowns. The most concerning statistic for Turner is that his yards-per-carry dropped to 3.6 this season, which is the lowest total of his NFL career.

Atlanta will most likely approach Turner regarding a possible pay cut, but there’s still a chance that he could be released outright. Jacquizz Rodgers isn’t going to be able to shoulder the load by himself next season, so there stands a decent chance that the Falcons will target someone either in free agency or the draft.

For what it’s worth, we have the Falcons taking Wisconsin RB Montee Ball in the second-round of our 2013 NFL Mock Draft.
