NFC East Notes: Cowboys, Eagles, Giants

Cowboys

  • Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer doesn’t think the Cowboys will trade for Jets S Jamal Adams because they already are facing some potential tight cap situations down the line and Adams wants a significant new deal.
  • However, Breer doesn’t completely rule it out, as Dallas did inquire about Adams at the deadline last year and was given the price of a first and third-round pick.

Eagles

While the Eagles have been in contact with free agent LT Jason Peters, HC Doug Pederson made it clear that they’re focused on what Andre Dillard can do in his second year in the league.

“With Jason Peters, we’ve always said that we’d stay in touch with him during the offseason, and we have. Jason Peters is a tremendous, not only football player, but he’s a tremendous Philadelphia Eagle,” Pederson said, via The Athletic.“But as we move forward, Andre Dillard was the player that we drafted to be that left tackle for us. He played last year. It kind of propels him into this offseason where he’s taken command of that role. We have a ton of confidence, I have a ton of confidence, in Andre Dillard playing (the) left tackle spot. …

“This is why we drafted Andre Dillard: You look at his skill set and what he brings to our offense, and what he brings to the Philadelphia Eagles, it fits right in line with everything that (OL coach Jeff Stoutland) talks about, teaches, preaches about, and what we are as an offense. … (Dillard) understands that, yeah, strength is a big part of playing offensive line, but that’s something that can be worked on in the offseason and that’s what he’s doing right now. … That’s how we’re proceeding moving forward.”

Giants

  • The Giants hired Southern Illinois WR coach Nick Williams as an offensive quality control coach. Williams announced the move himself on Twitter. (Dan Duggan)
  • Williams has several ties to Giants HC Joe Judge, playing wide receiver at Alabama while Judge was on staff coaching with Williams’ father.
