NFC East Notes: Cowboys, Eagles, Giants

Cowboys

  • Per Cowboys Insider’s Mike Fisher, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said any talk of Dallas not being able to re-sign WR Amari Cooper is premature: “No one has that info because I’m the only one that ultimately makes that decision. I have no reason to think Amari Cooper won’t finish his career with the Cowboys.”

Eagles

The Eagles suffered a disappointing defeat in Miami on Sunday. Regarding the game, Eagles HC Doug Pederson explained they simply “self-destructed.

“We self-destructed in a couple areas today, and it just hurt us,” Pederson said, via ESPN.com. “And we didn’t make enough plays; they made ’em, we didn’t. So those are the things that I talk about when I talk about being a disciplined team.”

Philadelphia has lost three games in a row, but the good news is that they will have their final four games of the season against division opponents.

“I mean, that’s the thing, as crazy as this is, I would say it’s a long shot, but we’re not out of it,” Pederson said. “We do have four of our division opponents coming up. The guys gotta understand that, and it’s my job to make sure they do understand that — that we’re still fighting and coming to work this week and ready to go and try to figure this thing out. But I’ve gotta show them exactly where we are and what we need to do with these next four games.”

Giants

Giants CB Janoris Jenkins told reporters after Sunday’s game that he should be used against the top receivers on opposing offenses after lining across from Davanate Adams on only a handful of plays.

“First of all, you have to use your weapons,” Jenkins said, via ESPN.com. “You just have to do better. Play better ball all around.”

When asked what he meant by “use your weapons, Jenkins said: “Come on, man. It’s common sense. Football is football. I’m the only one in the league that don’t travel no more. I don’t understand why when I was travelling other years. I don’t understand.”

Jenkins added that he hasn’t spoken to DC James Bettcher about his role.

“Nah, I’m playing within the scheme,” Jenkins said. “I ain’t got to complain. … I just want to play football.

“Sometimes you ain’t got to say too much. For what? It’s football. It’s common sense. I play on the left side of the field. All game. I get two passes a game. Come on, bro. Common sense. Everybody in the league who got the top corner, they travel. Rabbit don’t travel no more. Come on.”
