NFC East Notes: Eagles, Giants, Redskins

Eagles

  • NFL Media’s Mike Garafolo reports the Eagles and LT Jason Peters expect the veteran to end up elsewhere after announcing he will test free agency on Thursday. 
  • Garafolo says the Eagles are prepared to move forward with 2019 first-round OT Andre Dillard as the starting left tackle, adding he’s been told the Eagles think as highly of him as they do the top tackles in this year’s class. 
  • Pro Football Network’s Tony Pauline said he was told at the Combine to expect a bidding war between the Eagles and Giants for Cowboys CB Byron Jones

Giants

  • ESPN’s Jordan Raanan writes that he hasn’t heard anything regarding the Giants and free-agent RT Jack Conklin, but admits this doesn’t necessarily mean that New York is out of the running for him.
  • Pro Football Network’s Tony Pauline said he was told at the Combine to expect a bidding war between the Eagles and Giants for Cowboys CB Byron Jones
  • NorthJersey.com’s Art Stapleton mentions Cowboys’ free-agent OT Cameron Fleming as a player he is keeping an eye on for the Giants this offseason.
  • Stapleton notes that the Cowboys must decide whether to pick up Fleming’s option for 2020 by March 18, which would cost them $5.187 million. 
  • Former Browns DC Steve Wilks discussed a potential role with the Giants this offseason, per the Athletic’s Joseph Person.

Redskins

The Redskins have given veteran LT Trent Williams permission to seek a trade out of Washington. 

Williams’ agent, Vincent Taylor, tells Ben Standig that the left tackle is excited about resuming his NFL career after sitting out the 2019 season.

“Trent is excited to resume his Pro Bowl career with a team interested in a player of his stature. We really appreciate and respect Dan Snyder for the chance to seek another opportunity,” Frank said. “This isn’t about a contract, but time for a change of scenery.

  • Former Browns DC Steve Wilks had an offer to join the Redskins as an assistant head coach/secondary coach, per the Athletic’s Joseph Person.
