NFC Notes: Cardinals, Cowboys, Packers, Panthers

Cardinals

Cardinals GM Steve Keim mentioned during an appearance on Arizona Sports 98.7 Tuesday that he isnโ€™t betting against QB Drew Stanton returning from his knee injury.

โ€œDrew is extremely tough,โ€ Keim said, via AzCardinals.comโ€œHeโ€™s the type of guy I would not bet against.โ€

  • Keim mentioned that determining who will be activated from injured reserve is a โ€œfluidโ€ process and that there are five candidates theyโ€™ll be choosing from including QB Carson Palmer, RB David Johnson, RB T.J. Logan, G Mike Iupati and LS Aaron Brewer.

Cowboys

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Tuesday in an interview with 105.3 The Fan that the report of owners discussing a nuclear option (NFLTR) that could result in him being forced to forfeit ownership of the Dallas franchise is โ€œlaughable and ridiculous.โ€

โ€œIโ€™ve had not one โ€” not one โ€” inkling of communication from the league office or any owner that would suggest something that laughable and ridiculous, and thatโ€™s about where that is,โ€ Jones said, via CBS DFWโ€œIf somebody is asserting that or thinking about that kind of thing, then they are not knowledgeable about how things work in the NFL.โ€

Packers

  • Packers HC Mike McCarthy told reporters that while RB Ty Montgomery is still working through exams, thereโ€™s a chance for him (to play) this week.

Panthers

  • Panthers rookie RB Curtis Samuel appears to have suffered a serious ankle injury during Monday nightโ€™s win over the Dolphins, according to the Scott Fowler of the Charlotte Observer.
  • A team source tells Fowler that Samuelโ€™s injury could be worse than just a high ankle sprain.
