NFC Notes: Falcons, Panthers, Saints

Falcons

Falcons’ WR Calvin Ridley feels like he has been preparing for quite some time to replace WR Julio Jones in Atlanta.

“I played with Julio, Mohamed Sanu,” said Ridley, via Michael Rothstein of ESPN. “Since Day 1, those guys, I feel like I’ve been moving toward that way of I can do it by myself. Obviously, I’m not by myself because we have other players that are really good, but I feel like I’ve been ready, and I just needed an opportunity to get in those positions.”

Panthers

Panthers’ HC Matt Rhule mentioned T Cameron Erving when talking about the left tackle position, while also saying that the team views rookie OL Brady Christensen as a right tackle.

“Cam was doing really well when he was playing,’ Rhule said, via PanthersWire.com. “He had to do some things to take care of himself, to get himself ready for training camp that we needed to do, we might do that.”

“We think he’s a right tackle,” Rhule said of Christensen. “That certainly doesn’t mean he doesn’t have the ability to play left tackle. Most of us just like the length a little bit more on the left side. . . I think he’s a guy that can go on the inside and be an excellent guard. But I’ve been really pleased with his ability to play tackle. When we drafted him we thought ‘Hey, there’s a guy that’s gonna find a place to play.’”

Saints

Saints’ RB Alvin Kamara is focused on being a good teammate no matter what quarterback is named the starter by HC Sean Payton

“They both are great players so I’ll leave that up to Sean,” Kamara said, via Jordan Dajani of CBS Sports. “I don’t make that decision, but I’m going to just try to help both of them the best I can and whoever wins, wins.”
