NFC South Notes: Buccaneers, Falcons, Saints

     

Buccaneers

Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston said he’s “fighting” to help ensure that HC Dirk Koetter is back for the 2019 season.

“Yeah, I’m always fighting for my head coach,” Winston said, via Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times. “Every week. I think we all are. We’ve got a lot of respect for that man. He holds us to high standards, and we’ve got to hold ourselves to that standard, too.

Falcons

  • Falcons HC Dan Quinn announced that TE Austin Hooper will play in Sunday’s game, but they will be without RB Ito Smith.
  • The Atlanta Falcons officially ruled out DT Terrell McClain (toe) for Week 15’s game and have RB Ito Smith (back, knee) listed as questionable.

Saints

  • The Saints signed WR Simmie Cobbs off of the Redskins’ practice squad on Friday. According to Cobbs, Washington offered to add him to their active roster, but he chose to sign with the Saints because the Redskins only offered to promote him because someone else wanted him. (Nick Underhill)
  • Saints waived TE Erik Swoope with a failed physical designation. (NFLTR)
