NFC West Notes; 49ers, Cardinals, Seahawks

49ers

  • According to Nick Wagoner, 49ers WR Jordan Matthews‘ contract has a $1 million base salary, $300,000 signing bonus and $31,250 in per-game roster bonuses.  He earns all $1.8 million of the contract if he’s on the active roster for all 16 games this season.
  • The 49ers will meet with Ohio State DE Nick Bosa following his pro day on Wednesday.  San Francisco also met with Alabama DT Quinnen Williams following his pro day.  (Ian Rapoport)
  • The 49ers have an official visit scheduled with San Jose State TE Josh Oliver. (Matt Barrows)

Cardinals

After playing last season in a 4-3 defense and posting 13 sacks, Cardinals DE/OLB Chandler Jones is excited about the team’s move to a 3-4 and the addition of LB Terrell Suggs.

“No more double teams,” Jones said, via the team’s website. “Someone with a big name like Terrell Suggs, it will be great for us. I’m excited to have him.”

Seahawks

  • Jason La Canfora doesn’t see much happening between the Seahawks and QB Russell Wilson regarding an extension and he isn’t sure there’s really even a deal to be done at this point.
  • La Canfora mentions that Wilson could put himself in a position of leverage by forcing the Seahawks to franchise him next year and possibly the year after.
  • According to La Canfora, it doesn’t appear as though the Seahawks and Wilson have even started the process of negotiating a new contract and there has been no recent dialogue.
  • According to Brady Henderson, WR Jermaine Kearse says he’d like to return to the Seahawks, but hasn’t spoken with GM John Schneider or HC Pete Carroll.  Kearse and Carroll share an agent.
  • Mike Garafolo wouldn’t rule out Kearse returning to the Seahawks to help offset the loss of Baldwin.
