NFL Notes, 49ers, Buccaneers, Chargers, Falcons, Jets, & Raiders

49ers

  • NT Glenn Dorsey left practice with what appeared to be an injury to his left arm. (Bill Williamson)
  • Rookies C Marcus Martin and LB Aaron Lynch are expected to return to practice, but Martin missing a week of training camp could make it tough to beat out Daniel Kilgore for the starting job. (Bill Williamson)
  • TE Garrett Celek, who is dealing with disc issue in his back, may have a difficult time beating out Derek Carrier for No. 3 tight end job. (Bill Williamson)

Buccaneers

Chargers

  • Chargers had their seventh straight full padded practice on Friday, and it could eighth straight after Saturday. (Eric D. Williams)
  • First-round pick CB Jason Verrett was able to participate in contact drills after sitting out of them for two days. (Eric D. Williams)

Falcons

  • Starting FS Dwight Lowery left Friday’s practice with a head injury, which is notable given that he missed a good portion of last year with a concussion. (Vaughn McClure)
  • Another reason for concern regarding Lowery is the fact that safeties rookie Dez Southward has a knee injury and Zeke Motta is likely to miss the season. (Vaughn McClure)
  • Some of the players that stood out in the team’s scrimmage include: RB Josh Vaughan, rookie LB Prince Shembo, LB Jacques Smith, rookie WR Tramaine Thompson, and S Sean Baker.(Vaughn McClure)

Jets

  • Former first-round pick CB Dee Milliner had a “rough practice” Friday getting beat by Stephen Hill twice. (Rich Cimini)
  • Rookie TE Jace Amaro took some “baby steps” towards improving his play from earlier in the week. (Rich Cimini)
  • WR Stephen Hill continues to impress in training camp. (Rich Cimini)

Raiders

  • Veteran DB Charles Woodson has intercepted QB Matt Schaub three times in the last two practices. (Paul Gutierrez)
  • Rookie QB Derek Carrshined” on Friday, especially on long throws down the middle. (Paul Gutierrez)
  • If there is one thing that Derek Carr could clean up, it’s the issue of holding onto the ball too long, rather than throwing it away. (Paul Gutierrez)
  • Miles Burris appears to have the advantage over Sio Moore for the starting weakside linebacker job as of now. (Paul Gutierrez)
