NFL Notes: Bears, Colts, Giants, Jaguars, & Texans

Bears

  • The Chicago Bears announced that they’ve promoted CB Jacoby Glenn to their active roster.
  • Bears also waived CB Terrance Mitchell to make room for Glenn.

Colts

  • Pro Football Talk wonders if the Colts will place a waivers claim on QB Brandon Weeden now that he’s been cut by the Cowboys.
  • PFT adds that the Colts could release Charlie Whitehurst and go with Weeden, who has experience playing for OC Rob Chudzinski.

Giants

  • Art Stapleton mentions that the Giants really have “nothing to lose” by signing WR Hakeem Nicks to contract, as it would appear as though Nicks would have plenty of motivation to produce for them before testing free agency again next year.
  • Although, Stapleton doesn’t expect the Giants to force Nicks into the lineup unless he produces in practice and earns his reps.

Jaguars

Texans

  • Texans HC Bill O’Brien said of QB Brian Hoyer (concussion): “Right now, I would say Brian is in concussion protocol. Day to day deal, hoping he’ll be able to play.” (Aaron Wilson)
  • According to O’Brien, Hoyer “wasn’t functioning correctly calling plays.” (Aaron Wilson)
  • O’Brien said he expects OLB Jadeveon Clowney (lower back) to return this week. (Aaron Wilson)
