NFL Notes: Cardinals, Chiefs, Dolphins

Cardinals

Cardinals second-round WR Christian Kirk said he expects veteran QB Sam Bradford to be the Week 1 starter based on “what the coaches have said.”

To be honest, just with what the coaches have said and just the way it’s looking, I’m pretty sure Sam is going to start,” Kirk said, via Lindsay Rhodes of NFL Network. “But you never know. Training camp provides a lot of opportunities for Josh to go out there and show what he can do as well. I think either way, if Josh were to start Week 1, I think they both put us good position to go out there and win some football games.

Chiefs

Veteran OLB Tamba Hali mentioned in an interview with the NFL Network that QB Patrick Mahomes is a “complete player” who reminds him of Brett Favre.

“You’re going to get a complete player,” Hali said of Mahomes, via NFL.com. “I mean, he’s a smart player. He can throw the ball. Athletically, he’s gifted. You don’t have to coach it.

“In practice I’d watch him just look guys off. I mean, Eric Berry, you look him off and complete the ball. He did it to Marcus Peters a lot. So, people don’t know what’s coming. I don’t want to hype him, but I compare him to Brett Favre. He runs around the field and he throws the ball and he’s just having fun.”

Dolphins

While some NFL experts and Vegas odds are down on the Dolphins this year, their players are doing their best to avoid the negativity.

“You see stuff that’s a lot of negative stuff,” CB Xavien Howard said, via Chris Perkins of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. “I try to keep a lot of positive around me.

“I don’t pay attention to it. All we can control is what we can control,” CB Tony Lippett said.

“I stay away from it,” OT Eric Smith added. “That way you never get boosted up or get your feelings hurt.
