NFL Notes: Champ Bailey, Browns, Patriots

Champ Bailey

Free agent CB Champ Bailey mentioned Saturday night during an interview that he’s open to any opportunities at this point in time.

I’m open to pretty much anything (position wise) at this point,” Bailey said.

Bailey worked out for the Lions not too long ago and they have sustained some injuries at cornerback, which has prompted further speculation that Detroit could sign him to a contract at some point in the near future.

“If they call, that’s a team I’d really like to talk to,” Bailey said of possibly signing with the Lions, via Sirius XM Radio.

Bailey, 36, signed a two-year contract with New Orleans earlier in the offseason, but was among their final roster cuts a few weeks ago. Last year, he appeared in just five games last year due to a foot injury and recorded 14 tackles to go along with three passes defensed.

Browns

  • If Josh Gordon‘s suspension is reduced and allows him to play this season, he would be under team control through 2015, instead of 2016 if the ban remains in place. (Nate Ulrich)

Patriots

  • Former Chiefs DL Kona Schwenke worked out for the Patriots on Saturday. (Mike Reiss)
