NFL Notes: Dez Bryant, Johnny Manziel, Rams

Dez Bryant

  • Josina Anderson reports that free agent WR Dez Bryant will still get a job at some point this season.
  • Anderson adds that she knows of at least one team still monitoring his market and this club is not a team many would expect.
  • According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, mentioned yesterday that if Bryant wanted just any job, he would have already signed. Rapoport tossed out the Browns as a potential fit for Bryant if they’re looking for someone to step in while Josh Gordon is away from the team.
  • We have him featured in our Top 50 Available 2018 NFL Free Agents list.

Johnny Manziel

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats recently traded QB Johnny Manziel to the Montreal Alouettes, which figures to give him a better shot at playing this season.

Alouettes HC Mike Sherman made it clear that Manziel is going to play at some point.

“We didn’t bring him here to sit on the bench,” Sherman said, via ESPN.com.

Manziel said he’s “looking forward to what the future holds.”

“I don’t expect to come in here right away and have everything figured out, but at the end of the day I know Coach Sherman and I trust Coach Sherman and the leader he is to put me in a good situation,” Manziel said, via CFL.ca.

Rams

Rams QB Jared Goff mentioned that they’re trying to prevent outside expectations from affecting them this season.

“I think you see every year there are teams that get that type of label and often fall short, and you wonder why,” Goff said, via TheRams.com. “I think that’s something we can’t really focus on … take every day like we have the past year and build off of what we did in the spring.”

We’ve got all the pieces we need, we just need to put it together and continue to work hard every day and put all the pieces together,” Goff added. “Like I said, every year there’s teams with talent, we have talent, but what are we going to do to separate ourselves from the other teams? Continue to prepare and be the best we can be throughout this training camp and this season.”
