NFL Notes: Draft, 49ers, Jets, Rams

Draft

  • Josh Norris reports that the Buccaneers are putting LSU RB Derrius Guice through a private workout on Wednesday.
  • According to Tony Pauline of Draft Analyst, Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield will throw during his school’s Pro Day, while in attendance will be the Broncos’entire front office” including GM John Elway, Jets GM Mike Maccagnan, and Giants OC Mike Shula.
  • Pauline writes that a total of 26 teams were at the University of Richmond’s Pro Day to observe QB Kyle Lauletta including Cardinals QBs coach Byron Leftwich, Ravens QBs coach James Urban, Panthers QBs coach Scott Turner, Bengals QBs coach Alex Van Pelt, Buccaneers QBs coach Mike Bajakian, Redskins QBs coach Kevin O’Connell, and Giants executive scout Jeremiah Davis.
  • Over 24 teams came to scout North Arizona WR Elijah Marks at his school’s Pro Day. He reportedly met with the Buccaneers on Tuesday and is scheduled to take official visits to the Bears and Chiefs, while having a workout scheduled with the Cardinals.
  • Wisconsin LB Jack Cichy says he has a meeting with the Vikings in early April. (Amy Gill)

49ers

Jets

  • Ben Volin reports that the Jets were close to signing RB Jerrick McKinnon before he received a “big offer” from the 49ers.
  • According to Manish Mehta, the Jets were one of the two final teams in the bidding for DE Kareem Martin before he agreed to a three-year, $21M deal with the Giants.

Rams

  • Vincent Bonsignore mentions that the Rams are excited about OLB Samson Ebukam next season and will look to the second wave of free agency or the 2018 NFL Draft to find a player to start opposite of him.
  • Rams GM Les Snead said the team has had “productive talks” with DT Aaron Donald‘s representatives at the NFL Combine and they “agreed on a timeline” to potentially get an extension done. (Alden Gonzalez)
  • Snead says CB Kayvon Webster may not be back in time for training camp as he recovers from an Achilles tear. (Omar Ruiz)
