NFL Notes: Draft, Browns, Lions

Draft

  • North Carolina A&T OT Brandon Parker met with Patriots OL coach Daunte Scarnecchia after his Pro Day on Monday and had lunch with the Colts. (Christian Shanafelt)
  • Wagner OT Greg Senat will take a pre-draft visit to Houston and meet with the Texans. (Aaron Wilson)

Browns

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reports that UCLA QB Josh Rosen isn’t attempting to avoid being drafted by the Browns and he intends to play for whichever team drafts him.

Florio explains that the recent comments from Rosen’s former coach, Jim Mora (NFLTR), has invited speculation that Mora could be trying to help Rosen avoid being selected by the Browns.

  • A report from earlier in the day mentioned that a source close to Browns GM John Dorsey expects him to draft Josh Allen at No. 1 overall and then grab Saquon Barkley at No. 4. (NFLTR)
  • Ian Rapoport adds that he’s discussed the possibility with people around the league as well with the thinking being that Dorsey has almost always had a quarterback with a rocket arm outside of Alex Smith and Allen clearly has the best arm in this year’s draft.
  • According to Nate Ulrich, the Browns will be hosting Sam Darnold, Josh Allen, Baker Mayfield and Josh Rosen on visits team headquarters in Berea this week and next week.

Lions

  • Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press mentions that the Lions employ the former position coaches for Boston College DE Harold Landry, UTSA DE Marcus Davenport and Alabama DT Da’Ron Payne, which puts them in a unique position to evaluate a position of need.
  • Lions DC Paul Pasqualoni worked with Landry at Boston College and their new DL coach Bo Davis actually spent time at both Alabama and UTSA in the same position.
