Free Agency

  • With over $90 million of cap space to work with, Tony Pauline expects the Jets to be “big players” in free agency this year as sources have told him that the front office has been told to “spend all the money this year.
  • Pauline is hearing that it could take a two-year $12 million contract or so to land TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins in free agency. The Jets are still hoping to re-sign him and will meet with his reps at the Combine.
  • According to Pauline, the 49ers and Raiders are expected to be the main competition to sign Rams free agent CB Trumaine Johnson. Pauline adds that “many feel the team by the bay will win out.
  • Doug Kyed reports that Patriots free agent RB Rex Burkhead is expected to have a “competitive market” this offseason. Kyed adds that there’s no guarantee he re-signs with the Patriots.

  • Free agent DB Kristian Wilson tells us (via Twitter) that he has a private workout scheduled with the Saskatchewan Roughriders for next week.
