NFL Notes: Free Agency, Kristian Wilson, Draft

Free Agency

• With over $90 million of cap space to work with, Tony Pauline expects the Jets to be “big players” in free agency this year as sources have told him that the front office has been told to “spend all the money this year.”
• Pauline is hearing that it could take a two-year $12 million contract or so to land TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins in free agency. The Jets are still hoping to re-sign him and will meet with his reps at the Combine.
• According to Pauline, the 49ers and Raiders are expected to be the main competition to sign Rams free agent CB Trumaine Johnson. Pauline adds that “many feel the team by the bay will win out. “
• Doug Kyed reports that Patriots free agent RB Rex Burkhead is expected to have a “competitive market” this offseason. Kyed adds that there’s no guarantee he re-signs with the Patriots.

Kristian Wilson

• Free agent DB Kristian Wilson tells us (via Twitter) that he has a private workout scheduled with the Saskatchewan Roughriders for next week.

Draft

• The Jets and Giants have both met with LSU RB Derrius Guice at the Combine. (Calvin Watkins)
• Notre Dame G Quenton Nelson said he’s already met with the Giants and Packers this week. (Jordan Raanan)
• According to Texas OL Connor Williams, he has met with the Giants this week. (Art Stapleton)
• The Eagles had a formal interview with Notre Dame OL Mike McGlinchey Tuesday night and also met with the Dolphins. (Eliot Shorr-Parks, Joe Schad)
• Alabama RB Bo Scarbrough has a formal meeting scheduled with the Eagles for Thursday night. (Eliot Shorr-Parks)
• Georgia RB Sony Michel met with the Panthers at the Combine. (Jourdan Rodrigue)
• Fellow Georgia RB Nick Chubb said he’s scheduled to meet with the Jets Wednesday night. (D. Orlando Ledbetter)
• The Titans have had informal meetings with Georgia RB Sony Michel and Auburn RB Kerryon Johnson.
• Oklahoma OT Orlando Brown said he has met with Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome. (Jeff Zrebiec)
• USC RB Ronald Jones told reporters that he met with the Giants. (Jordan Raanan)
