NFL Notes: Percy Harvin, Bills, Eagles, Lions, & Packers

Percy Harvin

• Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk writes the Bills could ultimately release WR Percy Harvin, who was placed on injured reserve Saturday, once his knee injury is healed.
• Florio notes that Harvin would receive the balance of his $2.9 million base salary from the Bills if he remains on I.R.

Bills

• Bills OT Cyrus Kouandjio (knee) has been ruled out for Week 9 against the Dolphins.

Eagles

• Eagles LT Jason Peters (back) has been downgraded to out for Week 9’s game against the Cowboys. (Adam Schefter)
• Current RT Lane Johnson will start at left tackle in place of Peters. (Adam Caplan)

Lions 

• Michael Rothstein of ESPN does not think owner Martha Ford would give someone like Brian Xanders the GM position long-term because he is already involved with the team’s football operations.
• However, Rothstein could see Xanders working as an assistant GM in future years if that’s something Lions ownership is willing to consider.

Packers

• The Packers officially downgraded WR Ty Montgomery (ankle), CB Sam Shields (shoulder) and CB Quinten Rollins (neck) to doubtful for Sunday’s game. (Tom Silverstein)
