NFL Notes: Ray Rice, Adrian Peterson, Raiders, & Redskins

Ray Rice

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that one of Ray Rice’s arguments regarding his appeal for an indefinite suspension is that the NFL extended his punishment on the basis of an edited videotape.

Sources have told Schefter that TMZ’s tape that shows Rice punching his then-fiancee was a “cleaned-up, whittled down and condensed version” of what took place.

Adrian Peterson

  • Adrian Peterson’s legal team is reportedly pushing to move up his trial date and there is some “serious confidence” from Peterson’s side that they could win their case. (Ian Rapoport)

Raiders

Patriots HC Bill Belichick mentioned during an interview 985 The Sports Hub that he interviewed for the Raiders job, but they decided to hire Jon Gruden instead. (Ben Volin)

Redskins

  • The Redskins reportedly never considered trading backup QB Kirk Cousins, but they did receive a trade offer of a mid-round pick from the Browns. (Ian Rapoport)
