NFL Notes: Steven Jackson, Chargers, Dolphins, & Jets

Steven Jackson

  • Free agent RB Steven Jackson attempted to get the Cowboys attention on Twitter Thursday by posting a picture of the team’s stadium.

Chargers

Dolphins

Dolphins executive Mike Tannenbaum told reporters on Thursday that plan to take a look at their current group of offensive linemen before considering a free agent addition such as G Evan Mathis.

“We are happy with what we have,” Tannenbaum said. “Philosophically, when the right player comes along we’ll pursue him. [But] we’re happy with our roster.”

According to Barry Jackson, the Dolphins likely would only consider signing Mathis if their young guards struggle in training camp and Mathis is willing to accept “well below” what he’s currently asking for.

Jets

Jets DE Muhammad Wilkerson reported for the start of training camp, but added that his contract situation is still “a little frustrating.”

“It is a little frustrating, but at the end of the day I am happy to be out here with my teammates and get the season going,” Wilkerson said, via ESPN.com.

Even so, Wilkerson said he plans to focus on the 2015 season.

“I’m going to focus on the season,” Wilkerson said. “It is my job to be competitive with my teammates and get ready for games on Sundays. I don’t want to worry about contract situations. That is a distraction for myself as well as my teammates.
