NFL Rumors: Jarvis Landry, Dolphins, Giants, Jets

Dolphins

  • Tony Pauline of DraftAnalyst.com reports that there’s a lot of talk going on at the Combine about the Dolphins trading franchise WR Jarvis Landry.
  • Several league sources have told Pauline that they believe the Dolphins will wait until the draft to possibly use him to trade up for one of the top three quarterbacks should they start to fall.
  • Pauline points out that Dolphins executive VP Mike Tannenbaum made a similar move while he was with the Jets when he traded up to get Mark Sanchez back in 2009.
  • Pauline’s sources mentioned that Tannenbaum could be looking to make a similarly bold move to Eagles GM Howie Roseman trading up for Carson Wentz a few years ago.

Giants

  • According to Tony Pauline, the Giants are expected to make a “concerted effort” to sign Panthers free agent G Andrew Norwell in the coming weeks.
  • Norwell has been linked to the Giants, given his ties to GM Dave Gettleman from their time together in Carolina.
  • Should the Giants get priced out of the market for Norwell, Pauline has been told that Ravens C Ryan Jensen will likely be a less-expensive contingency plan for New York.
  • Free agent OL D.J. Fluker is unlikely to be back with the Giants and Pauline lists the Cardinals, Dolphins and Seahawks as three teams to watch.

Jets

  • Tony Pauline expects there to be “extensive talks” between the Jets and free agent C Weston Richburg during free agency.
  • According to Pauline, the Giants are unlikely to re-sign Richburg and him ending up with the Jets is reportedly “something both sides want to happen.”
  • Pauline points out that Richburg offers some versatility with his ability to play both guard and center, which happens to be something the Jets could use up front.
