NFL Rumors: Panthers Next Coach

The Carolina Panthers 2010 season has been nothing short of underwhelming to say the least. With their 2-10 record it appears that the only positive things to come out of this season could be a coaching change and the No.1 overall pick in the upcoming draft.

John Fox will most likely be replaced at the end of the season and some have speculated that the team will be looking for an offensive minded coach that is also cost efficient.

As of now there have been a number of coaches that have been linked to the Panthers coaching position. Russ Grimm, Brian Schottenheimer, Jim Harbaugh and Mike McCoy have all been suggested as possible options for Carolina. Panthers beat writer Darin Gantt mentioned that Harbaugh is an option but he is likely to command a high salary on the open market which may force the Panthers to pass on him despite the fact that they could draft Harbaugh’s Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck with the first pick.

In case the team decides to pursue another defensive minded head coach, Eagles defensive coordinator Sean McDermott, Giants DC Perry Fewell and Bengals DC Mike Zimmer could all get interviews.
