Osi Umenyiora Decides To Have Surgery

As soon as it seemed like Giants DE Osi Umenyiora was ready to return to the team and end the stalemate the played over the month or so, reports come out that he has decided to have surgery on his knee.

Giants G.M. Jerry Reese said that Umenyiora called him on Thursday “to let me know he wanted to have the surgery now.”

Umenyiora had said that his knee was bothering him upon returning to the team but Reese basically said that it was his decision and not the teams.

Interestingly enough, Justin Tuck warned that the situation between the Giants and Umenyiora was not over.

You know, just because he’s back on the football field doesn’t mean this whole saga is over,” Tuck said via the New York Daily News. “You know, just because he’s back on the football field. I mean he’s not happy with his contract. Everyone knows that. . . . I don’t think he’s going to let that affect his play or affect how this football team prepares for the game. But it ain’t necessarily over.”

More drama could come when he returns in 3 or 4 weeks because Jason Pierre-Paul has looked very good so far.
