Packers Place DT Johnny Jolly & TE Brandon Bostick On IR

The Green Bay Packers officially placed DT Johnny Jolly and TE Brandon Bostick on season-ending injured reserve Saturday.

Jolly, 30, surprisingly fought his way onto the Packers 53-man roster, despite being out of the game for a few years. He unfortunately suffered a serious injury against the Cowboys. Reports from earlier this week indicated that Jolly has a bulging disk at the C-5 vertebra in his neck that could require surgery at some point.

Jolly has been a very effective run-stopper for the Packers this season, but will be an unrestricted free agent in the coming months leaving his future with the team in doubt.

As for Bostick, he has been mentioned as a possible long-term replacement for Jermichael Finley. He flashed some ability for the Packers this year, but didn’t develop into a consistent option. He’s still young and has a bright future if he continues to develop.

It’s worth noting that the Finley, coming off of a very serious injury, and Andrew Quarless will both be unrestricted free agents this offseason, which means Bostick could be in for a big year in 2014.
