Panthers DE Frank Alexander Suspended For An Entire Year

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that Panthers DE Frank Alexander has been suspended for an entire year for violation the NFL’s substance abuse policy.

This is the third suspension for a Panthers’ player in the past two days.

Alexander has two prior substance abuse violations, which explains the lengthy ban for him this time around.

Alexander, 25, is a former fifth-round pick of the Panthers back in 2012. He is in the final year of his four-year, $2.57 million rookie contract and stands to make a base salary of $660,000 for the 2015 season.

He unfortunately suffered a torn Achilles’ tendon during the preseason and was placed on season-ending injured reserve.

In 2014, Alexander was limited to appearing in just one game and recording a single tackle.
