Panthers OT Michael Oher Accused Of Assaulting Uber Driver

According to WSOCTV, Panthers OT Michael Oher is accused of assaulting an Uber driver in Nashville, Tennessee.

The driver claims that he got in an argument with Oher during a downtown ride, which led to the driver putting his hand on Oher’s face and the veteran lineman responding by knocking him to the ground. Oher was cited for alleged assault.

The Panthers released a statement regarding the situation:

“We are aware an incident occurred involving Michael. We have no further comment at this time.

Oher, 31, is a former first-round pick of the Ravens back in 2009. He spent five years in Baltimore before signing on with the Titans in 2014. After one season in Tennessee, the Panthers signed him to a two-year, $7 million contract and was set to make a base salary of $2.35 million for the 2016 season.

Carolina was impressed enough with Oher to sign him to a three-year extension back in June of last year worth $21.6 million and included $8 million fully guaranteed.

Unfortunately, Oher was placed on injured reserve after suffering a concussion.

There have been questions about whether Oher will be able to resume his NFL career after suffering a season-ending concussion last year.

In 2016, Oher has only appeared in three games for the Panthers but is rated by ProFootballFocus as the No. 49 overall tackle out of 79 qualifying players.
