Panthers Sign Draft Picks S Tre Boston & CB Bene’ Benwikere

The Panthers announced that they have signed fourth and fifth-round pick S Tre Boston and CB Bene’ Benwikere to four-year contracts on Tuesday.

  • Carolina also announced the signing of free agent LB Billy Boyko, who tried out for the team last week.

The Panthers had a ton offseason in terms of losing veteran players at receiver and in their secondary, so they clearly had to come away from the draft with at least a few defensive backs.

Boston offers some versatility given that he saw time at corner and safety at North Carolina. Over the course of his four-year college career, Boston totaled 282 tackles, eight for a loss, 13 interceptions, 28 passes defensed and three forced fumbles.

Carolina actually traded up 20 spots to land Benwikere in the fifth round who started 30 games for San Jose State. He totaled 214 tackles, 11.5 tackles for a loss, 14 interceptions, 31 passes defensed, three forced fumbles and two recoveries.
