Panthers Worked Out 3 Including DE Chris McCain & DT Bruce Gaston

According to Howard Balzer, the Panthers brought in three players for tryouts on Tuesday including DE Chris McCain, DT Bruce Gaston, and DT David Moala.

McCain, 24, wound up going undrafted out of California back in 2014. He’s managed to make the 53-man roster in each of his first two years in the NFL and was in the final year of his three-year, $1.53 million rookie contract and was set to make a base salary of $600,000 for the 2016 season.

McCain was traded to the Saints but was waived as the team cut their roster down to 53 players. Dallas signed him to their practice squad just a few days later. Unfortunately, Dallas waived him from their practice squad last week.

In 2015, McCain appeared in eight games for the Dolphins and recorded two tackles, a sack and a forced fumble.

Gaston, 24, originally signed on with the Cardinals as an undrafted free agent out of Purdue back in May of 2014. Since then, he’s had brief stints with the Patriots and Dolphins before the Packers signed him to their active roster towards the end of the 2014 season.

After brief stints with the Bears, Vikings and Chargers, Gaston was claimed off of waivers by the Eagles. However, he lasted just a few days in Philadelphia before he was among their final roster cuts.

In 2015, Gaston appeared in nine games and recorded 12 tackles and a sack.
