Patrick Mahomes To Return Against Titans In Two Weeks

According to Ian Rapoport, Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes has a “very realistic shot” to play in two weeks against the Titans on November 10.

Rapoport relays that Mahomes’ naturally loose ligaments in his knee helped shield him from more serious damage. Only one ligament was compromised — barely — and no ligaments were torn.

Mahomes has said he feels great and the team will monitor how his knee scars up to make the final determination of when he can play.

Mahomes dislocated his kneecap last Thursday, October 17, in a game against the Broncos, but returned to practice in a limited fashion this past week. He’s been ruled out for Week 8 against the Packers.

Mahomes, 24, is a former first-round pick of the Chiefs back in 2016. The Chiefs traded first and third-round picks in 2017 to go along with another first-round pick in 2018 for the right to draft Mahomes.

Mahomes is currently in the third year of his four-year, $16.4 million contract and set to make base salaries of $645,000 and $735,000 over the final two years of the agreement.

The Chiefs have a fifth-year option they can pick up on Mahomes to ensure he’s under contract through 2021 and from there they could always franchise him if need be.

In 2019, Mahomes had appeared in seven games for the Chiefs and completed 65.1 percent of his passes for 2,180 to go along with 15 touchdowns and one interception. He has also rushed for 82 yards.

We’ll have more regarding Mahomes as the news is available.
