Patriots Activate RB Rex Burkhead From IR, Waive OT Matt Tobin

Field Yates of ESPN reports that the Patriots have activated RB Rex Burkhead from injured reserve on Monday and waived OT Matt Tobin.

The Patriots placed Burkhead on injured reserve back in September with a neck injury.

Burkhead, 28, is a former sixth-round pick of the Bengals back in 2013. He played out his four-year, $2,262,200 contract with the Bengals and signed on with the Patriots to a one-year deal last offseason.

The Patriots brought Burkhead back on a three-year, $9.75 million contract this past March.

In 2018, Burkhead appeared in three games for the Patriots and rushed for 86 yards on 24 carries (3.6 YPC) to go along with three receptions for 31 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
