Patriots May Value QB Ryan Mallett More Than Other NFL Teams

ESPN.com‘s Adam Schefter (Insider) mentioned in his recent mailbag that the New England Patriots value backup QB Ryan Mallett “more than other teams do right now.”

Schefter adds that the Patriots are reportedly “impressed” with the way Mallett has practiced and former Chiefs offensive coordinator Brian Daboll believed he would have started for Kansas City last season.

Mallett’s name has come up as a speculative option for the teams like Cleveland Browns, but there hasn’t been any indication that it’s a plausible idea.

Mallett, who was a third-round pick in 2011, in under contract through 2014 season at a very reasonable price. There’s still a chance that he could be the eventual successor to Tom Brady, but by no means a guarantee to do so.
